Gốc từ chuẩn của tiếng Anh

Nếu tiếng Việt có các gốc từ Hán Việt thì tiếng Anh cũng có gốc từ Latin, Hy Lạp.

Việc hiểu nghĩa của các gốc từ trong tiếng Anh sẽ giúp các bạn đoán được nghĩa của các từ trong bài kiểm tra mà bạn chưa gặp bao giờ.

hôm nay post một list, nhưng mà không chắc là đã đầy đủ Thường thì từ điển oxford không có gốc từ, nhưng nếu bạn vào từ điển Meriam-Webster hoặc là answers.com, sau khi tra một từ, bạn có thể tìm phần gốc từ (etymology) của nó. Nhiều từ điển thường giải nghĩa bằng cách lập lại từ đã có trong tiếng pháp (nước Anh nói tiếng Pháp trong 100 năm nên bị ảnh hưởng khá nhiều), nhưng tiếng Pháp thực ra cũng cấu thành từ những gốc từ Latin.

-able =>able to be => đuôi chuyển thành tính từ
bạn sẽ hiểu đại khái là "xuống + mệt mỏi" = làm cho mệt mỏi xuống
trái lại làm cho mệt mỏi xuống = không mệt mỏi, không thể bị làm mỏi mệt
